SINGAPORE — The Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) will soon be updated with seven additional languages and a redesigned interface to make the online submission process more convenient for travellers.
In a Facebook post on August 19, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the number of available languages will increase from 12 to 19 with the addition of Bahasa Indonesia, Dutch, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Filipino and Italian.
The existing options are English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil, Vietnamese, Hindi, Bengali, German, French, Japanese, Korean and Thai.
ICA said the languages were selected based on those commonly spoken by travellers visiting Singapore.
The upgraded system will also allow Singapore residents to scan their passports to automatically fill in their details, providing an alternative to retrieving information through Singpass.
The passport-scanning function is currently available only to foreign travellers through the ICA website and MyICA mobile application.
The authority said the enhanced SGAC will feature a more user-friendly interface designed to simplify navigation and improve the overall submission process.
One change will allow travellers to select their travel purpose and residency type together on the landing page, instead of choosing the purpose first and providing their residency status later.
The new features will be available through both the MyICA mobile app and ICA website, with travellers able to test the updated version on the website from August 26.
ICA also reminded travellers that submitting the SGAC through its official channels is free.
The electronic arrival card is required for travellers entering Singapore, except passengers transiting without clearing immigration and Singapore residents using the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.
