A Singaporean couple died after their Ferrari burst into flames in Kota Tinggi, Johor, following a crash on the Johor Bahru-Mersing Road.

KOTA TINGGI: A Singaporean couple were burnt to death in an accident after the Ferrari they were traveling in lost control and crashed at Kilometer 57.5 of the Johor Bahru-Mersing Road before bursting into flames here this morning.

Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Supt Yusof Othman said that the 34-year-old male driver and the 33-year-old woman sustained severe bodily injuries and burns, and were pronounced dead at the scene.

He added that the police received information regarding the incident from members of the public at approximately 9:00 am.

“They were traveling from Johor Bahru toward Mersing. The charred remains of both victims have been referred to the Forensic Unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for investigative procedures, and the case is still under investigation,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
