GOMBAK, March 17 — RM15,250 has been allocated for the Bakul Rahmah aid and Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions for single mothers, orphans, and special needs children across Selangor.

The contribution, provided by the state government via Wanita Berdaya Selangor in the form of basic food supplies, was presented by the state executive councillor for women’s empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari, benefiting 255 single mothers.

In addition, 50 orphans and special needs children received Aidilfitri contributions during a programme at the Ideal Convention Centre in Selayang yesterday evening, in conjunction with the Selangor-level International Women’s Day celebration.

“After my husband passed away, the financial burden became heavier, and today’s contribution has really helped lighten my load, especially for Raya preparations,” she said.

For housewife Zaiton Hassan, 56, the basic necessities received through the Bakul Rahmah aid will assist in getting ready for Aidilfitri.

“With the current cost of living, the items received today are truly helpful, especially for preparing for Raya,” she said.

Earlier, around 500 underprivileged individuals attended the celebration, which was held to recognise the role of women in the state’s development.
