SANDAKAN: DAP Sabah Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon disputed Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin that a single dominant party assures stability.
“A single dominant party in Malaysia is a bygone era. A single dominant party will not mean stability. It can result in abuse of power. We have seen how Sandakan was at a standstill during the Barisan Nasional (BN) era in Sabah. There was absolutely no development in Sandakan.
“In a short 22 months under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, Sandakan had its airport runway extended to cater to long haul flights from as far as Beijing,” he said.
“We have seen how decisions were made to the detriment of various denominations and the lack of sustainable progress of the nation under a dominant party.
“On the contrary, PH managed to put a stop to abuse of power by charging, conviction and jailing of a former PM. The trials of other Umno leaders are still ongoing. These show that our country under the PH government won’t compromise on corruption as it would destroy our nation,” he added.
