
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s remains arrive at As-Syarif Mosque for funeral prayers before her state funeral and burial at Pusara Negara
SERI KEMBANGAN: The remains of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, have been taken from her residence to the As-Syarif Mosque in Taman Sungai Besi Indah here for funeral prayers.
The hearse carrying her remains left the residence at about 2.45 pm and arrived at the mosque at 2.55 pm, accompanied by family members.
Upon arrival, the remains were taken to the mosque’s funeral management room for preparations ahead of the final respects.
Tun Dr Mahathir, their children and close family members were also at the mosque.
According to the funeral arrangements, members of the public may pay their last respects at the mosque’s second prayer hall.
Funeral prayers are scheduled to be held after Asar prayers before the remains are taken to Pusara Negara (National Cemetery) in Precinct 20, Putrajaya, for the state funeral.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah breathed her last at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this morning at the age of 100.
