
PETALING JAYA: National women’s squash champion S Sivasangari won her first PSA World Tour Gold-level title today.
In the final of the inaugural London Squash Classic at the Alexandra Palace, she defeated world No 2 Hania El Hammamy of Egypt in five games.
In the closely fought tie which lasted 81 minutes, Sivasangari prevailed by winning 11-9, 5-11, 13-11, 12-14, 11-8.
Sivasangari, who is ranked 16 in the world, had earlier beaten world No 4 Nele Gilis of Belgium in the semi-final, following her shock victory over the world No 1 Nour El Sherbini (Egypt) in the quarterfinals.
