Six men nabbed in Kota Belud brawl over football

KOTA BELUD: Police arrested six men in connection with a brawl that broke out during a football match at Padang Dudan, Kampung Piasau, which was shared widely on social media, last Sunday.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 42, were detained at around 12.10am Monday to assist in the investigation.

Kota Belud District Police Chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said the police received a report regarding the incident at about 4.30pm.

“All six men were detained, and investigations are being carried out under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and disturbing public peace,” he said.

Shahrudin advised the public not to speculate about the incident as it could disrupt the ongoing investigation.

The videos, 49 seconds and 19 seconds long, were widely circulated on WhatsApp and Facebook.

They appear to show more than 10 individuals involved in the scuffle.
