MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer rode on the trio of George King, Don Trollano and Marcio Lassiter’s hot shooting in the third canto as the Beermen clobbered the fast-fasing Converge FiberXers, 126-114 in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup Wednesday night at the Araneta Coliseum.
King, Trollano and Lassiter accounted for 34 of the Beermen’s 37 points in a key third quarter surge that enabled them to break free from a slim one-point halftime lead.
SMB improved to 5-2 to stay at second spot in Group A, behind NLEX’s impeccable 6-0 record.
Converge continued to free-fall with its fourth straight loss since opening the conference via a 3-0 start.
King led SMB with 46 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, Trollano added 27, while Jerrick Ahanmisi 15.
Calvin Abueva and Jamal Franklin registered identical 26 points and 12 rebounds for Converge. RICHARD DY
