SMKA Bugisiah school hall destroyed by fire

PONTIAN - The Dewan Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Bugisiah, Tampok Laut, Benut here was destroyed in a fire early this morning.

However, no cassulaties were reported in the 4.13am incident.

Following a distress call, Pontian Fire and Rescue Department Operations Commander Assistant Fire Officer Mahadir Mamat said 16 firefighters from the Pontian and Rengit Fire and Rescue Department and fire engine were dispatched to extinguish the fire.

"Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters found that the fire had destroyed 90 per cent of the one-story permanent structure school hall.

“The firefighters worked on extinguishing it until completion. The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation," he said in a statement today.

Mahadir mentioned that the operation was completed at 10.16am.
