Police K9 unit dogs Rabel and Tyson join search for missing 78-year-old Abdullah Alias in Palong oil palm plantation.

JEMPOL: Two dogs from the Police K9 Unit, Rabel and Tyson, have been deployed to assist in the search and rescue (SAR) operation for an elderly man who has been missing in an oil palm plantation in Palong here since Sunday.

Jempol district police chief Supt Norhisham Mustapar in statement said the canines joined the SAR operation which resumed this morning, focusing on a three-kilometre radius from the spot where the victim’s motorcycle was found abandoned in the plantation.

He said the missing man, identified as Abdullah Alias, 78, is fair-skinned with the height of about 160 centimetres tall and was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt and a red cap.

“Members of the public who may have seen Abdullah or have information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call 06-457 2222,” he said.

Media had reported yesterday that Abdullah had not returned home after he was believed to have left for the plantation at about 5 pm on Sunday.

The SAR operation is being carried out by personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, Special Tactical Operation and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM), Palong Volunteer Fire Brigade, police personnel and members of the public.
