Solar energy export firm signs P370M project in Batangas

EXPORT firm Genuine Renewable Energy and Eco-Friendly Energy Network Corp. (Greeenc) is investing P370 million for its operations at the Light Industry and Science Park III in Santo Tomas, Batangas, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority said on Wednesday.

The company manufactures and exports high-quality solar photovoltaic modules — solar panels that capture sunlight and convert it into electricity.Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso Panga and Greeenc chairman Joseph Aguilar signed the company’s registration contract, witnessed by PEZA Deputy Director General for Finance and Administration Anidelle Joy Alguso and Greeenc corporate treasurer Marcela Saludo.“This investment is particularly impactful in today’s global context,” Panga said. “As nations grapple with energy insecurity, rising fuel costs and climate-related disruptions, initiatives in renewable-energy manufacturing strengthen long-term resilience. Projects like Greeenc’s not only generate jobs and spur technological advancement, they also help reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and mitigate vulnerabilities during global crises.”Greeenc’s solar panels will serve residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, utility-scale and off-grid applications markets in the European Union, with projected sales at $132 million in its incentivized period. An incentivized period is a limited time frame during which businesses or individuals receive special benefits, such as tax holidays, reduced tax rates or enhanced deductions. It is commonly used in corporate investment to boost economic activity, with periods often lasting four to seven years for income tax holidays, followed by extended deductions. The project aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s renewable energy agenda, which prioritizes energy diversification, expansion of green industries and wider adoption of clean power sources.“By enabling local solar manufacturing, the project supports national sustainability targets and reinforces efforts to build a climate-resilient, future-ready Philippines,” PEZA said, adding that it will further elevate the country’s standing as an emerging hub for renewable energy technologies.
