The search for Vijayaletchumi was officially called off by the authorities eight days after the incident due to the high risks and dangers involved in the rescue operation.

In a poignant conclusion to a tragic episode, the son of Vijayaletchumi, who perished after falling into a sinkhole at Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur, returned to Malaysia to perform the last rites for his mother.

The family had earlier returned to India in a state of profound grief, unable to recover her body.

One month after the incident, the victim’s son came back to the site of the sinkhole to conduct the final rites.

In a ritual laden with emotion, he tossed yellow flowers into the sinkhole in memory of his mother, symbolizing his last tribute to her.

This heartfelt moment was captured in a TikTok video posted by@sarvaessrashbinrajappa on September 22 and 23, which quickly went viral.

Accompanying the video, the son’s caption read, “31st day, final rites prayers for my mother,” providing a window into his solemn farewell under incredibly tragic circumstances.
