Polling to elect the Mayor and councillors of 22 wards for the Sonepat Municipal Corporation (MC) on Sunday ended peacefully, as no untoward incident was reported in the polling area.
The police had made tight security arrangements at all polling booths to ensure a smooth process.
As per information, more than 1.40 lakh voters out of a total 2.96 lakh voters in the district exercised their franchise across 264 polling booths on Sunday.
Following the directions of ADGP Mamta Singh, Commissioner of Police, the police personnel provided wheelchairs to the elderly and differently-abled voters, assisted them in reaching polling stations and extended support while they waited in queues. Several senior citizens were also escorted to the voting centres with the help of police staff.
