Southwest monsoon to bring heavy rains in Luzon until Thursday — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring heavy rains over parts of Luzon until Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

In its 5 p.m. advisory, Pagasa said that heavy rainfall was expected over parts of northern and central Luzon from Monday to Tuesday afternoon, particularly in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra and Benguet.

Other areas that may experience significant rainfall include Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Zambales and Bataan.

From Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon, heavy rains were expected over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet and Zambales, while parts of Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Tarlac, Pampanga and Bataan may also have significant rainfall.

On Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon, heavy rains were forecast over Benguet, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro. Other areas that may be affected include Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite and Batangas.
