Southwest monsoon to bring more rain - Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines— Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan, and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Typhoon Domeng, which did not make landfall or directly hit the country, is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday morning or afternoon, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

“Domeng” was estimated at 655 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes while moving north-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.

“Domeng has likely reached its peak intensity and will maintain its strength while moving over Okinawa, Japan. Afterwards, weakening trend is expected,” Aurelio said.
