LEGO has officially unveiled its Icons Hubble Space Telescope set, giving one of humanity’s most celebrated scientific instruments the premium brick-built treatment.
Designed for adult builders, the collectible recreates NASA’s iconic observatory with impressive attention to detail, celebrating more than three decades of groundbreaking space exploration.
The release expands LEGO’s growing portfolio of space-themed Icons sets, joining models inspired by NASA’s 2,354-piece Space Shuttle Discovery and the 3,601-piece Artemis Space Launch System.

What are the features of the collectible?
LEGO Icons Hubble Space Telescope is a 1,252-piece collectible for builders aged 18 and above. It is designed primarily as a display showpiece rather than a play set.
The model features Hubble’s instantly recognisable cylindrical body, articulated solar panels, opening access doors and a display stand with an information plaque at the base depicting some of the most famous photographs of the universe taken by Hubble.
An instrument bay featuring gyroscopes and primary and secondary mirrors is located behind the removable exterior panels on the LEGO model.
LEGO has also included an astronaut minifigure to add depth to the scale model of the real telescope.
How big is the real Hubble Space Telescope?
The real Hubble Space Telescope, launched aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on 24 April 1990, measures about 13.2 metres in length, has a diameter of approximately 4.2 metres and weighs around 11,100 kilograms.
Orbiting Earth at an altitude of roughly 535 kilometres, Hubble has transformed astronomy by capturing spectacular images of galaxies, nebulae and distant stars while helping scientists measure the age and expansion of the universe.
Among the most famous pictures taken by Hubble are the 11-ringed Cat’s Eye Nebula, the Crab Nebula, the Butterfly Nebula, the Whirlpool Galaxy, and the iconic Pillars of Creation.LEGO’s tribute to the Hubble Space Telescope features depictions of the last three on the plaque.
NASA has serviced the telescope five times, extending its operational life well beyond its original design.
