Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon has kept another clean sheet and set a World Cup record without being scored against in 519 minutes.

The record came in Thursday's 3-0 victory in Austria as the Athletic Bilbao keeper edged past Italy's Walter Zenga who did not let in a ball in 517 minutes at the 1990 edition.

Simon's streak started in 2022 after conceding in the 51st minute against Ao Tanaka in their 2-1 defeat against Japan in their final group match.

Spain then drew 0-0 after 120 minutes in the last 16 against Morocco, who went on to win on penalties which do not count. And Simon is yet to be beaten at the latest event where Spain drew 0-0 with Cape Verde, beat Saudi Arabia 4-0 and Uruguay 1-0 before the Austria match.

Simon can further raise the record in the last 16 against Portugal or Croatia, and beyond.
