In a bid to urge greater use of public transport and reduce fuel consumption, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is set to operate special bus services for Delhi Government employees commuting to offices, officials said on Monday.
The initiative comes as part of the Delhi Government’s intensified efforts to promote sustainable transport amid concerns over fuel conservation linked to uncertainties in West Asia.
According to an official order, the special buses would provide connectivity from Delhi Administration residential flats to the nearest metro stations, as well as direct access to the Delhi Secretariat in line with office timings.
“The special bus services shall facilitate connectivity from Delhi Administration flats to the nearest metro stations as well as to Delhi Secretariat in accordance with office timings,” the order stated.
The services would operate during peak office hours, with buses running in the morning from 9 am and during the evening return commute between 5 pm and 8 pm. Around 54 buses would be deployed under the initiative.
The routes would cover several government residential colonies and areas, including CWG Village, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash, Model Town, Mayur Vihar, Dwarka and Timarpur.
Officials said government employees travelling via the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro can de-board at Indraprastha Metro Station and use DTC shuttle buses to reach the Delhi Secretariat during operational hours.
Additionally, the DTC would operate DEVI electric buses between 9 am and 11 am and from 6 pm to 8 pm in the evening. These services will connect key locations such as Indraprastha Metro Station, Bharat Mandapam, Supreme Court, ITO, Delhi Gate Metro Station and the Delhi Secretariat.
The order further stated that dedicated feeder bus connectivity will also be available between the Delhi Secretariat and ITO Metro Station at Gates 4 and 5, as well as Delhi Gate Metro Station.
