New Delhi Municipal Council Vice-Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal and MP Manoj Tiwari will undertake an electric auto and Metro journey in central Delhi on Monday as part of a special initiative aimed at promoting sustainable urban mobility and encouraging greater use of public transport.
According to the NMDC, Chahal will leave from his official residence in Chanakyapuri in an electric auto to pick up Tiwari from Mother Teresa Crescent before proceeding to Seva Teerth Metro Station. The two leaders are also scheduled to interact with commuters at Gate No 6 of Palika Bazar and express gratitude to Delhi Metro passengers who have adopted public transport as their primary mode of travel.
Following the metro ride, Chahal and Tiwari will distribute 50 per cent discount parking tickets for electric vehicles at parking facilities in Connaught Place to encourage the adoption of electric mobility. According to officials, the initiative aims to promote eco-friendly transportation, strengthen last-mile connectivity and recognise the contribution of Metro commuters in reducing traffic congestion and pollution in the national capital.
