- A Supermarine Spitfire fuselage kept inside a garage for more than two decades has sold at auction for £18,000.
- The lot was listed by Dominic Winter Auctioneers in Cirencester and featured a cockpit assemblage and five original Griffon propeller blades.
- The fuselage was the final project of aviation enthusiast Peter Arnold, known as 'Mr Spitfire', who stored the aircraft at his home in Newport Pagnell.
- Mr Arnold, who died aged 83, regularly wheeled the Spitfire onto his driveway for members of the public to view.
- The former Aston Martin engineer spent his lifetime tracking down and preserving historic aircraft, travelling the world to see over 260 Spitfires.
