LONDON ― Decathlon, the French sports retail giant, reported 2025 sales of 16.8 billion euros ($19.40 billion) on Thursday, up from 16.2 billion euros the year before as it opened new stores and launched in three new countries.

Known for big-box stores that sell everything from tents and bicycles to running shoes, Decathlon got a new CEO ― Javier Lopez ― a year ago.

Lopez said: "In Europe, our most mature market, we need to remain highly attractive, while looking at new growth opportunities in other parts of the world."

Decathlon sees "high potential" in Asia with China and India remaining priorities, and "encouraging signs" from markets like Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea, Lopez said.

Decathlon had 1,902 stores in 82 countries worldwide at the end of 2025, up from 1,817 in 2024.

The retailer launched its first stores in Argentina, Azerbaijan and El Salvador last year through franchise partners.

In a first, Decathlon will open a store inside an IKEA store in Croydon, south London this spring.

Net profit for 2025 was 910 million euros, up from 787 million euros in 2024.
