While squeezing into traffic may seem like a minor annoyance to some drivers, sudden or unsafe lane changes can force other motorists to brake or swerve to avoid a collision.

And with dashcams becoming increasingly common among Malaysian motorists, drivers who commit traffic offences may find themselves caught on camera.

Instead of confronting a reckless driver on the road, road users can make a complaint through JPJ’s e-Aduan system on the MyJPJ mobile app.

Complaints you can make through the app

The MyJPJ app allows Malaysians to report traffic offences directly to JPJ for further action. Here are the complaints you can file through the app:

Here’s what you’ll need to file a complaint

Before submitting a traffic complaint through the MyJPJ app, make sure you have the relevant details and evidence ready to help JPJ assess the incident.

  • Details of the traffic offence: A clear description of what happened, including the type of offence and where it took place.
  • Photo or video evidence: Clear footage showing the alleged traffic offence, where available.
  • Relevant vehicle details: Information such as the vehicle’s registration number, make, model, colour, and any other identifying details that can help JPJ identify the vehicle.

  1. Click on “e-Aduan @ JPJ
  2. Select ‘Jenis Kesalahan Lalu Lintas‘ (Type of road traffic offence).
  3. Fill in ‘Maklumat Kesalahan Lalu Lintas‘ (Details of road traffic offence), such as vehicle details and video or photo evidence, then click ‘Hantar‘ (Send)
  4. Finally, click ‘Ya‘ to confirm your submission.

Once completed, the screen will display “Aduan Telah Berjaya Dihantar”, confirming that your complaint has been successfully submitted.

So, if you encounter a driver who appears to be putting other road users in danger, you don’t have to take matters into your own hands. Keep a safe distance, avoid escalating the situation and, where appropriate, let the authorities handle it.

Because at the end of the day, getting to your destination safely is a lot more important than dealing with that one driver who apparently thinks the road belongs to them.
