SINGAPORE, Oct 3 — The Weeknd is not there yet, but his fans are already at the venue.

The 36-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter reposted on his Instagram Story yesterday (Oct 1) a video of the snaking queues at the pop-up for his merchandise outside National Stadium.

Despite the arduous wait, one fan wrote on X: “Worth it.”

Others could be seen holding umbrellas as they waited in line.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, appears to have arrived in Singapore on Sept 29, posting photos of tourist hotspots such as Marina Bay Sands.

He also posted a photo of himself holding a 7-Eleven Slurpee and sports drink.

Yesterday, he visited Universal Studios Singapore (USS), where he snapped photos of the Ancient Egypt area.

Some theme parkgoers spotted him wearing a mask and an XO T-shirt from his merchandise line.

One said he was getting drinks when he saw The Weeknd.

He shared a video of him with his team walking into The Revenge of The Mummy ride: “We made eye contact and I waved at him but I forgot to record it.”

Local influencer Nigel Lim, a “big” fan of The Weeknd, had just visited the singer’s merchandise pop-up before he went for Halloween Horror Nights at USS, where he caught a glimpse of his idol by chance.

“At least we got to see his back, that’s good enough,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

The Weeknd will be performing at National Stadium on Oct 2 and 3, with Japanese hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts opening the show on both nights.

Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.

The Asia leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour started in Tokyo, Japan, on Sept 19 and will wrap up on Nov 5 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. — AsiaOne
