25-year-old Malaysian squash star Sivasangari Subramaniam’s stock has risen tremendously over the past year or so, making headlines worldwide after beating world champion Nour El Sherbini on the way to winning her 1st PSA World Tour Gold-Level title at the GillenMarkets London Squash Classic.

Now, Sivasangari reached a new milestone by breaking into the top 10 of the PSA women’s world rankings!

Sharing the latest PSA women’s world rankings as of 20 May on her X (formerly Twitter) account, the national squash player revealed that she’s now ranked 10th in the world.

According to the official PSA World Tour website, Sivasangari was ranked 11th previously and cracked the top 10 spot for the 1st time thanks to her recent performances.

As of the time of writing, the Sungai Petani-born athlete has been part of 15 tours and garnered 6,596 points.

The 1st Malaysian since Datuk Nicol David and Low Wee Wern to break into the top 10 ranking

Sivasangari’s incredible exploits make her the 1st Malaysian squash player since Datuk Nicol David and Low Wee Wern to break into the top 10 world ranking.

In her X post, Sivasangari said that her achievement wouldn’t be possible without the support of her incredible team who pushed, encouraged and stayed with her through the highs and lows.

She also iterated that this milestone makes her more determined to keep pushing and enjoy every step of the process.

Recently, the rising squash athlete was also recognised in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia 2024 list for her amazing achievements.
