SANDAKAN: Parti Solidariti Tanahairku (Sabah Star) said it received new members here.

Mostly from the Muslim-bumiputera community.

“We feel very inspired and motivated to receive such a strong support from the Muslim bumiputera community here in Sandakan.

“They told us that they felt drawn to join the party because of our consistent political struggle for Sabah and Sabahans, particularly concerning our rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

He said the new party members were led by Abdullah Madon and Kassim Selamat from Sekong and Karamunting respectively.

On talks about the merger between Sabah Star and Parti Bersatu Sabah, Chua said the focus now is to strengthen unity in the Gabugan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.

“We have come so far to build a political unity and stability under the GRS. All of us, Sabahans, are proud of this considering the long history of political instability in Sabah.

“With political stability we can focus on what matters most that is the development of Sabah. But we must not take things for granted. We need to build on this significant success,” he said.

The idea to merge the two parties came after party president Kitingan spoke about its potential last July.
