TAMPARULI: Star Sabah’s Tamparuli Division condemned the circulation of a video attempting to link party president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan to unsubstantiated allegations, branding it a desperate smear campaign orchestrated by political opponents.
They said as Sabah’s political climate intensifies ahead of expected electoral developments, a familiar and increasingly tired tactic has resurfaced: personal attacks thinly veiled as exposés.
Nasir Samie, the Division’s Information Chief, described the video as part of an outdated political tactic aimed at undermining Dr Jeffrey’s credibility.
“We are confident and believe that the spread of the video recording is a slander, baseless accusation, and a malicious political attack to undermine his credibility and the image of the party,” he said in a statement, Monday.
He also described such attacks as cheap political tactics that are outdated.
“The people of Sabah are becoming more mature in assessing politics. They know how to distinguish between truth and slander.
“Those who try to sow negative perceptions against the President are actually only showing their fear of the strength and influence of the party,” stressed Nasir.
He added that the policies and directions outlined by Dr Jeffrey are clear, consistent, and focused on the continuity, stability, and progress of the party organization.
Among these are efforts to strengthen unity among members, fight for Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and ensure that the people’s voices continue to be heard at both the state and federal levels.
“Therefore, we stand firmly with the President in implementing the vision and mission. No slander or attempt to bring down can undermine our confidence in his leadership,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Wiramuda Tamparuli, Jess Joel Moriga, also voiced the strong support of the youth for the Star President.
He stressed that such slanderous tactics have become commonplace ahead of elections, but the younger generation is now increasingly politically savvy.
“Every time there is a general election, such slanderous tactics will always be used. But I am sure the people, especially the youth, are smart and understand these dirty tactics.
“Young people are not easily fooled by cheap politics that only want to bring down a credible leadership,” he said.
Nasir and Jess both stressed that such personal attacks will not weaken the spirit of struggle, but will only strengthen the solidarity of party members at all levels to continue with the President.
