KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan was questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for five and a half hours over an alleged bribery case involving mining prospecting licences.

His political secretary Anuar Ghani said the session took place from 5.30pm to 11pm yesterday at the Sabah MACC office, The Star reported.

Anuar said Kitingan had fully cooperated with investigators and had completed giving his statement in relation to a video linked to the bribery allegations.

He urged the public to allow the investigation to proceed without interference and to refrain from speculation while respecting the rule of law.

Anuar said the Sabah STAR president believed that public attention should remain focused on major issues affecting the state.

Sabah must hold its next state election by this Dec 7. While no date has yet been announced, the state assembly will be dissolved automatically on Nov 12, five years after it first sat in 2020.
