
- Sir Keir Starmer posted a tribute to his late Dad in an Instagram post on Father’s Day, less than 24 hours before he resigned as prime minister and leader of the Labour party.
- The post by Sir Keir included a younger photo of himself at his University graduation ceremony, with his mother and father on either side of him.
- Below the image, a caption said: “Being a dad is my greatest joy. Today, I’m thinking about my dad, and the father I am to my children because of him. Happy Father’s Day.”
- Starmer’s father, Rodney Starmer, passed away in 2018, with the Labour leader previously admitting their relationship was was more “distant” as he cared for his mother, Josephine.
- The father of two – one son and one daughter - revealed the birth of his children was “the most exciting” moment of his life in a BBC Radio 4’s Today programme in 2022.
