StarSabah may take MA63 issue to ICJ, says Jeffrey

Kota Kinabalu: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (StarSabah) will consider taking the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as a final measure if the agreement is not fully implemented, said its President Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.

Jeffrey said after 63 years in Malaysia, it was time for the Federal Government to fully implement outstanding matters under MA63, claiming that many aspects of the agreement remained unresolved.

“This is the new narrative of our struggle. We want the Federal Government to fulfil the MA63 demands entirely,” he said at StarSabah’s 10th anniversary celebration here on Saturday night, adding that the party would take the issue to the ICJ if MA63 was not fully implemented.

Jeffrey, who is Tambunan Assemblyman and Keningau MP, said Sabah’s status under MA63 was equal to Sarawak and the Federation of Malaya, and reiterated calls for Sabah’s rights under the Federal Constitution to be upheld, including the 40 per cent revenue entitlement.

On the party’s political direction following its performance in the recent State Election, Jeffrey said StarSabah would continue strengthening the party at all levels ahead of the next General Election, while calling for Sabah-based parties to unite in championing the rights and interests of the State.
