- SpaceX has launched Starship, the world's most powerful rocket, into orbit for the first time during its 14th test flight from Texas.
- The Super Heavy booster achieved a “fairly soft” splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico after separating from the upper stage Starship rocket, according to SpaceX.
- Despite suffering an engine failure, Starship has successfully reached orbit and begun deploying 26 Starlink V3 satellites.
- The spacecraft is scheduled to orbit Earth six times before making a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean roughly 10 hours after launch.
- It is seen as a major test both of SpaceX’s future plans and its role in helping Nasa return to the Moon and then onto Mars.
