KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has welcomed the High Court’s decision to allow the Sabah Law Society’s judicial review on Sabah’s 40 per cent special grant, calling it a significant affirmation of the State’s constitutional rights.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the ruling, which orders the Federal Government to review the grant due for the lost years within 90 days, confirms Sabah’s entitlement under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
He said the State Government has consistently upheld its constitutional rights through every Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) meeting and official correspondence with Putrajaya, ensuring the matter was never neglected.
Hajiji said Sabah’s work in clarifying historical records, including the share of federal revenue derived from the State from 1964 to 1968, helped reaffirm that the intent of the constitutional provisions remains unchanged.
He said the State will cooperate with the Federal Government to implement the Court’s orders in the spirit of mutual respect and commended the SLS for pursuing the case in the public interest.
