Kota Kinabalu: A security guard was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here, Tuesday, with stealing RM1,000 cash from a woman.
Abu Bakar Talah, 47, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to stealing the money from one Rosalia Marjuhan, 39, on June 13, this year at 2.30am, at the Club Mix, Penampang Baru, Penampang.
The charge, under Section 379 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine, or both, on conviction.
The court fixed Oct 10 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on a bail of RM1,300 in two sureties.

Nur Shahirah Zulkarnaen admitted to committing the offence at the five-foot-way behind a billiard saloon, in Manggatal town, on Jan 9, this year, at 5.40pm.
The court was informed by the prosecution that Nur was arrested by police during an Ops Dadu raid.
The gambling paraphernalia used by Nur in the activity was also seized by the police, said the prosecution.
Nur was charged under Section 7(2) of the same Act which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months’ jail, or both, on conviction.
In another case, nine men were penalised for taking syabu.
Caleb Samuel, Asli Mohamad, Norsaid Bert, Jamil Zaini, Denylee Sapiun, Dingin Seadward, Masra Suaris, Edwin Lanis, Juhari Edilis pleaded guilty separately to committing the offence between June 24 and July 28, this year.
Norsaid, Denylee, Masra, Edwin and Juhari were sentenced to seven months jail each while the rest were handed six months each.
They were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years’ jail on conviction.
