Former Open champion Henrik Stenson and PGA Tour winner Sungjae Im will headline the 2026 SJM Macao Open as the Asian Tour event returns to Macau Golf & Country Club in October.

MACAO, June 26: Former Open champion Henrik Stenson and South Korean star Sungjae Im have confirmed their participation in the 2026 SJM Macao Open, organisers announced today.

The US$1 million tournament, the 12th stop on this year’s Asian Tour, will be played at Macau Golf & Country Club from Oct 15-18.

Stenson, who lifted The Open title in 2016, will make his tournament debut.

“I am delighted to be heading to the vibrant city of Macao for the first time to compete at the SJM Macao Open this October,” said the Swede.

“Many of the world’s best have played at the Macau Golf & Country Club and I cannot wait to experience the course for myself and hopefully see my name amongst the greats on its roll of honour.”

Im returns for his second appearance after finishing tied seventh last year.

“I am looking forward to returning to Macao this October to compete at the SJM Macao Open,” he said.

“I had a top-10 finish last year and hope to do even better this time around.”

Defending champion Dominic Foos of Germany will also return after claiming last year’s title in a playoff against Chinese Taipei’s Wang Wei-hsuan.

“Winning last October was one of the most defining moments of my career so far,” said Foos.

“The support from the spectators and the atmosphere throughout the week made the victory even more special.”

Organisers also announced a new initiative that guarantees the leading local finisher from the previous edition a place in the main tournament.

This year’s recipient is Ma Kaijun, who was the highest-placed Macau player in 2025.

The SJM Macao Open is jointly organised by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, SJM Resorts, S.A., and IMG, and is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Macau Golf Association.

Admission to the tournament will once again be free, with ticket registration now open.
