Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up this Thursday, Shams Charania outlined what emerged from the meeting held on Monday between Kerr and the Warriors’ leadership.
“Steve Kerr met with Joe Lacob and Mike Dunleavy Jr. for two hours on Monday, to figure out whether he’s gonna continue after 12 years as head coach of that team,” he reported.
“There’s no resolution quite yet. The sides will reconvene next week, but two things were made clear in that meeting, sources tell me. One: Steve Kerr wants to be back as head coach. And two: the Warriors want him back as the head coach.
“But there are different layers and dynamics to all this. Both sides are trying to look at what’s best for the Warriors’ long-term perspective.”
Draymond Green prediction looks unlikely after latest update
Draymond Green, who has been alongside the 60-year-old coach for all his Warriors tenure, had previously suggested this could be Kerr’s final season in charge.
His comments reflected uncertainty within the team about the direction of the franchise. However, Charania’s update indicates that scenario is unlikely to unfold.
With both Kerr and the Warriors open on continuing their partnership, Green’s prediction now appears set to be disproven, but he is likely to be glad about that.
