Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP) shares knowledge with ‘Majlis Bersama Jabatan’ (MBJ) Istana Seri Kinabalu towards strengthening the functions of MBJ.

Every government ministry and department has its own MBJ, which acts like a Union of workers, to look after the welfare of their respective civil servants. There are two types of MBJ in which one is safeguarding the workers’ welfare and the other for management purposes.

Through the programme with MBJ Istana Seri Kinabalu, KKTP Permanent Secretary (SUT), Datuk Dr Jamili Nais said the Ministry would take advantage of ideas and approaches to ensure the welfare of the workers is protected, while maintaining friendship between them.

“MBJ is a two-way communication channel between employers and employees to improve not only bilateral relations, but also the working environment so that the Ministry’s goals and vision can be achieved.

“This means that MBJ can improve the relationship in the organisation and for that we have to provide a conducive atmosphere for the staff to carry out their respective tasks.

“Through the visit, we see many ideas, experiences and approaches that can be applied to find out about the welfare of staff shared by MBJ Istana Seri Kinabalu that we can use as a guide in our efforts to strengthen the management of MBJ KKTP,” he said when leading a group of MBJ KKTP for a visit and study tour to Istana Seri Kinabalu.

During the visit, Dr Jamili together with Deputy SUT I, Stanley Chong Hon Chung and SUT II, Faridah Giau on Tuesday, were also taken on a tour of the Ceremonial Hall, Visitor’s Hall and Seri Kinabalu Hall while being briefed on protocol and procedures when attending official events in the palace by the Private Secretary to His Excellency (TYT), Datuk Abinan Asli who is also the Chairman of MBJ (Management) of Istana Seri Kinabalu.

In addition, he said this visit also aimed to further strengthen friendships and give opportunities and experience to MBJ KKTP which was visiting the palace for the first time.

Accompanying the delegation were Deputy Private Secretary to TYT, Ag Damit Pg Apong; Communications Secretary to TYT, Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohd Tahir; TYT’s escort, Colonel Herman Bombang and Chairman of MBJ (Employees) Istana Seri Kinabalu, Norizam Noorhisyam.

Meanwhile, during the luncheon attended by the TYT’s consort, Toh Puan Norlidah Tan Sri R.M Jasni, Dr Jamili expressed his gratitude and was moved by the reception that was organised for the MBJ KKTP.

“Thank you to Her Excellency Toh Puan and also thank you to the management of MBJ Istana Seri Kinabalu.

“Indeed, we are very moved by the hospitality rendered to us and this is a very valuable experience for MBJ KKTP officers and staff,” he said.

At the end of the visit, Dr Jamili presented souvenirs and a memorable photo session with Toh Puan Norlidah and members of MBJ KKTP.
