Lebanese authorities report that at least two people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike near a hospital in the coastal city of Tyre.

The state news agency NNA reported on Monday that, according to early figures, 23 people had been injured. Power to the hospital's intensive care unit was cut off as a result of the attack.

Images on social media showed that parts of the hospital had been destroyed.

Local media reported that there had been massive damage. The cold storage rooms in the building, which housed the bodies of those killed in the conflict, were reportedly smashed to pieces.

The building opposite the hospital was hit by three missiles and badly damaged as a result, reports said.

The Israeli army did not initially comment.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Health, 3,433 people have been killed and more than 10,000 others injured in Lebanon since the current escalation began in early March.
