Kota Kinabalu: Strong waves on Thursday night destroyed two stilt houses in Kg Tanjung Aru while another in Kg Tanjung Aru Lama here became uninhabitatble after taking massive damage.
Special Tasks and Coordination Minister Datuk Arifin Mohd Arif said the State through the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) has donated RM500 tfor each family involved in the 7pm natural disaster.
“The Community Development Officer (CDO) will be providing details so Zakat Baitulmal assistance can be directed in easing the victim’s burdens,” he said.
“We have prepared enough for 40 families here in Tanjung Aru, and also 30 in Pulau Gaya where a few houses in Kampung Pondo were also affected,” he said when handing out the aid at the Kg Tanjung Aru community hall Friday.
Tanjung Aru CDO Reduan Aklee said apart from the two houses in Kg Tanjung Aru Baru, four main wooden walkways were also destroyed, adding they were waiting for a full report on the Pulau Gaya situation.
