This evening’s World Snooker Championship action is an intriguing match-up between former world champion Stuart Bingham and qualifer Jak Jones.
The pre-tournament favourite and world No 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan crashed out at the quarter-final stage as Bingham progressed to the semi-finals following a thrilling and stylishly competent contest at the Crucible. Bingham now returns to action during Thursday’s evening session where he will face Jones who provided another major upset by defeating Judd Trump.
Elsewhere Kyren Wilson, who has perhaps been playing the most consistently great snooker of the tournament, notched up a series of high breaks on his way to a 13-8 quarter-final victory over John Higgins while David Gilbert reached the the final four in the World Championship for the first time in five years also with a 13-8 win over Stephen Maguire.
There was nothing to separate the two over the afternoon session with the lead switching hands throughout only for the duo to remain level at 4-4 heading into tomorrow’s play. Gilbert scored the higher of the two including a century break of 105 in the fourth frame.
