Kota Kinabalu: Ministry of Education (MOE) has amicably resolved the issue involving the organiser of the Semporna District Schools Sports Council (MSSD) Cross Country Championship, who was accused of unfairly revoking a runner-up medal without proper investigation.
Its Minister Fadhlina Sidek said a meeting was held with all related parties to resolve the issue.
“The role of the State Education Department (JPN), District Education Office (PPD), teachers, schools, parents and the student’s family has led to the issue being resolved in a good way,” she said this after officiating the Madani Leadership Seminar: Digital Education Awareness held at the Recital Hall, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), here, Thursday.
Also present were Deputy Director-General of Education (School Operations Sector) Zainal Abas and and State Education Department Director Datuk Raisin Saidin.
Fadhlina emphasised that her Ministry is ready to carry out further investigations into the matter should any related issues or allegations arise.
“If there are any false accusations or the like, we are ready to investigate, and JPN is fully committed to addressing the issues raised,” she said.
An activist known as Mukmin Nantang claimed in a Facebook post that a male athlete under his guidance was accused of riding a vehicle during the competition held last Saturday.
As a result, the medal that was awarded on stage was later confiscated without any opportunity for defence or a formal investigation process and was then given to the participant who had won third place.
The post garnered around 17,000 shares on Thursday.
