KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Education Department (JPNS) has suspended a student involved in a recent bullying case at a secondary school in Kinarut.

Sabah Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin (pic) said, in a statement on Sunday, the incident was taken seriously and immediate action was carried out in line with existing disciplinary rules.

The student was handed a suspension as punishment, with the school moving quickly to safeguard order and discipline.

Raisin added that the student had also been referred to a counselling teacher for intervention.

He stressed that the Department does not compromise on bullying cases and prioritises the safety of students and teachers alike.

Raisin said maintaining the wellbeing of the school community under the Department's supervision remains a top priority.

He also reminded that all parties must work together to ensure schools remain safe and conducive places for learning.
