KENINGAU: The “Citra Negaraku” 2025 state-level programme wrapped up here with a strong call for students to strengthen national unity by embracing the Rukun Negara.
Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Director-General Zulkifli Hashim said the initiative was a milestone for Sabah.
He said when officiating the closing of the Town Hall and Symphony of Unity at the Keningau District Council Hall.
“The programme succeeded in gathering students from diverse backgrounds to cultivate patriotism and instil the values of the Rukun Negara.
“This is a significant effort that will shape our young people into principled, unity-driven Malaysians,” he said, commending JPNIN Sabah and Geomatika College Keningau for hosting the event.
The highlight was the first-ever state-level two-way town hall engagement in Sabah, led earlier in the day by Deputy Secretary-General Mohamad Sobri Mat Daud of the Ministry of National Unity.
Zulkifli said the session provided a valuable platform for students through the Rukun Negara Secretariat to share views and explore common ground in strengthening unity.
The Symphony of Unity featured active participation from students of Geomatika College Keningau, IPG Keningau, the Sabah Institute of Islamic Studies and Dakwah, and Tambunan Community College.
Activities have been running since August, supported by local leaders and the community, ranging from Rukun Negara Trails and Expressions of Unity to outreach programmes with neighbourhoods.
Zulkifli reminded participants that the Rukun Negara remains a timeless national philosophy, its five principles forming the basis of nation-building.
He urged all parties to continue supporting the national unity agenda before officially declaring the programme closed.
