Sukma 2024: Ayzek Hakimi scores silver in petanque shooting

SHAH ALAM, Aug 18 — Day seven of the 21st Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Sarawak will see Selangor’s women’s gymnastics team fight for gold in the baton, ball and ribbon categories.

At 9.45am, petanque athlete Ayzek Hakimi Safingan added a silver to the state’s medal collection in the shooting event at the Sarawak Petanque Centre, Santubong. Melaka’s Khairul Amirul Zamrul Hisham scored gold.

As of yesterday, the state’s medal tally stood at four gold, seven silver and four bronze.

Wushu proponent Mandy Cebelle Chen was the first local athlete to garner two gold medals, in the women’s taijiquan and taijijian events, at SSC Wushu Hall in Kuching, on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, lawn bowls athlete Adania Mohd Redzwan won silver in the women’s singles tenpin bowling event at Megalanes Emart in Batu Kawa, Kuching.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the women’s lawn bowls team comprising Damia Aleesya Mohd Irmantaha, Nur Dina Najwa Tarmizy Abdullah, Nur Najwa Batrisyia Mustakim, Nurul Ain Ibrahim, and Puteri Aira Azman Shah, won gold in the women’s fours event at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena in Kuching.

Their victory was followed by compatriot Nur Najla Damia Mustakim’s silver in the lawn bowls women’s singles event at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena in Kuching.

Meanwhile, another wushu athlete, Batrisyia Izzati, contributed a silver to the state in the women’s sanda 48kg category at the Sarawak Wushu Stadium in Kuching.

Her compatriot Felicity Wong also won silver in the women’s sanda 52kg category at the same venue.

The day ended with another silver from Intan Nor Edryana dan Adania Mohd Redzwan in the tenpin bowling women’s doubles event at Megalanes Emart in Batu Kawa, Kuching.

Yesterday, the state won a kumite gold through G. Srikah in the 55kg women’s category and bronze through B. Jeevesh in the 55kg men’s category, at Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara, Miri.

Meanwhile, Selangor’s rhythmic gymnasts scored silver in the team event at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching, while the men’s sepak takraw team also won silver in their match against Penang at Stadium Muhibah in Bintulu.
