In the predawn darkness, a throng of enthusiastic individuals gathered along the streets of Johor, creating a vibrant tapestry of anticipation from Istana Bukit Serene to Senai International Airport (LTAS) in Kulai. This early morning spectacle, beginning at 6:30 am, was nothing short of a grandiose display of unity and reverence as the crowd eagerly awaited the departure of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim to Kuala Lumpur, where he would solemnly assume the role of the 17th King of Malaysia.
At 7:45 am, the air was filled with a palpable sense of excitement as His Majesty, adorned in resplendent ceremonial attire, left Istana Bukit Serene in an official vehicle. Accompanying him were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the minister in attendance, and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. The procession, watched by approximately 30,000 people, including school students, state civil servants, and members of the public, traced its way through various locales such as Taman Scientex Utama Senai, Taman Aman, Pekan Senai, and finally, the LTAS Mosque, concluding its journey at the Senai Royal Hangar—an hour-long spectacle that symbolized a collective moment of historical significance.
Upon reaching LTAS, the monarch was greeted by a welcoming committee consisting of state dignitaries led by Johor State Secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, State Assembly members, and state government officers. The atmosphere resonated with respect and admiration as Johor Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad led a prayer recitation, followed by the resonant chanting of 'Daulat Tuanku' three times by Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Perang Musa.
The culmination of this ceremonious departure transpired at 9 am when His Majesty's private plane took off for Subang Air Base, carrying him to Kuala Lumpur. This event, encapsulated in the collective consciousness of the people, not only marked a historic coronation but also showcased the unwavering connection between the monarch and the citizens who celebrated his journey with fervent loyalty.
