In the predawn hours, a spectacle unfolded in Johor, where an extensive assembly of thousands gathered along the thoroughfares, creating a vibrant tapestry of anticipation. This grand assembly extended from the regal Istana Bukit Serene to the bustling Senai International Airport (LTAS) in Kulai, the air pregnant with excitement and a sense of history. The clock ticked to 6.30 am, heralding the arrival of multitudes eager to witness a momentous departure – that of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, embarking on a journey to Kuala Lumpur to undertake the solemn oath as the 17th King of Malaysia.
Dressed in the resplendent regalia befitting the occasion, His Majesty, accompanied by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, made a dignified exit from Istana Bukit Serene at 7.45 am. An official vehicle carried the royal entourage, the procession imbued with a sense of ceremony and gravitas. The crowd, numbering around 30,000 individuals, comprised not only curious onlookers but also school students, state civil servants, and members of the public, united in their shared reverence for Sultan Ibrahim.
The journey unfolded along a meticulously planned route, weaving through notable locations such as Taman Scientex Utama Senai, Taman Aman, Pekan Senai, and the LTAS Mosque. The fervor and enthusiasm of the crowd persisted, reaching its zenith at the Senai Royal Hangar. Here, the onlookers bore witness to a symbolic departure, as His Majesty's departure echoed through the corridors of history.
Upon reaching LTAS, His Majesty was greeted by a contingent of state dignitaries, led by Johor State Secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani. Accompanying them were State Assembly members and various state government officers, all there to bid farewell and extend best wishes.
Before the departure for Kuala Lumpur on His Majesty’s private plane, the atmosphere turned solemn. Johor Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad led a prayer recitation, infusing the moment with spiritual significance. Following the prayer, Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Perang Musa led the chanting of ‘Daulat Tuanku’ three times, a resounding affirmation of loyalty and respect.
The plane, carrying the weight of history and the hopes of a nation, gracefully ascended into the skies, destined for Subang Air Base. The time was 9 am, marking not just the departure of a monarch but the beginning of a significant chapter in Malaysia's royal narrative, etched in the hearts of those who bore witness to this historic event. — Bernama
