King to personally select new MACC chief, urges non political appointment for anti corruption agency leadership

PETALING JAYA: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia has decreed that he will take a direct role in selecting the next individual to lead the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The King stressed the gravity of the appointment, asserting that the selection process should remain free from political interference.

He stated that there is no requirement for any group or individual to politicise the transition.

Sultan Ibrahim highlighted that the leadership of the MACC is vital to the organisation’s mission, ensuring it remains the country’s pre-eminent body for tackling corruption, financial embezzlement and the misuse of authority.

“I will personally identify the most suitable candidate to lead the MACC moving forward,” His Majesty stated in an interview with the Royal Press Office (RPO) today.
