The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced the official opening of the Abdul Rahman Auf Mosque in Taman Rapat Koperasi this evening, marking a significant event in the local community. His Royal Highness arrived at the mosque at precisely 8:27 PM, where he was warmly welcomed by Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim. The ceremony was also attended by several distinguished guests, including the chairman of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini, and the director of the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk), Harith Fadzilah Abdul Halim.

The event commenced with a symbolic act where Sultan Nazrin pressed a button, drawing a curtain down to officially inaugurate the mosque. This gesture not only marked the official opening but also underscored the Sultan's commitment to fostering Islamic values and community spirit in Perak. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and anticipation as the curtain fell, signifying a new chapter for the mosque and its congregants.

Following the official opening, Sultan Nazrin recited the ‘takbir’ to commemorate the Eid al-Adha celebration, an important event in the Islamic calendar that honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This recitation was a poignant moment, reflecting the deep spiritual significance of the occasion. Sultan Nazrin then joined approximately 300 congregants to perform the Isyak prayers, further demonstrating his solidarity with the local Muslim community.

The Abdul Rahman Auf Mosque, commonly referred to as MAARUF, has a rich history that began as a humble surau. Built on a 1,244 square meter plot, it was completed on April 1, 2007, at a cost of RM930,577. Initially designed to accommodate 700 congregants, the mosque has since become a central hub for religious activities and community gatherings in the area. The transformation from a surau to a full-fledged mosque signifies the growth and development of the local Muslim community, providing a larger and more accommodating space for worshippers.

The inauguration of the Abdul Rahman Auf Mosque by Sultan Nazrin Shah is not merely a ceremonial event but a reaffirmation of the role of mosques as vital centers for spiritual growth, community cohesion, and the preservation of Islamic traditions. The presence of high-ranking officials and the local community highlights the collective effort in upholding and celebrating religious and cultural heritage. This event marks a milestone in the ongoing journey of the mosque, ensuring it remains a beacon of faith and unity for generations to come.
