Sultan of Selangor graces Royal Gala Dinner in Cyberjaya as RSPEC celebrates his Silver Jubilee and honours polo contributors
CYBERJAYA: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today graced the Royal Gala Dinner organised by the Royal Selangor Polo and Equestrian Club (RSPEC) here.
The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, were also in attendance.
Also gracing the event were the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
The dinner, held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the Sultan of Selangor’s reign, was also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and RSPEC president Datuk Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail.
At the event, Sultan Sharafuddin presented the Polo Lifetime Achievement Award to nine recipients in recognition of their contributions to the development of polo.
Meanwhile, RSPEC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim said the event marked another significant step for the club in bringing polo and equestrian sports closer to the community, while enhancing Selangor’s potential as a sports tourism destination.
“As a public club, rather than an exclusive members-only club, RSPEC is committed to serving as a bridge between the community and the world of polo and equestrian sports.
“Moving forward, RSPEC will expand its sports, educational and community programmes to provide more people, particularly the younger generation, with opportunities to discover, experience and participate in polo and equestrian sports,” he said.
