Everton forward Tom Cannon is attracting interest from Championship club Sunderland.
The Black Cats, who were unable to secure promotion to the Premier League, are looking to build up their squad.
Per the Liverpool Echo, Cannon is seen as an alternative to Ellis Simms, also of Everton until recently.
The 22-year-old was impressive on loan during the first half of last season with Sunderland.
However, he subsequently went to Coventry City, leaving Sunderland with a gap in their squad.
They are now turning to another Toffee in Cannon, who they believe can shine at that level.
Cannon was on Preston North End for part of last season, scoring eight goals in 20 games.
