Manchester United striker Joe Hugill is wanted back at Sunderland.
The Sun's Alan Nixon is reporting Sunderland are exploring re-signing their former youth teamer in January.
Hugill is attracting interest from several Football League clubs, beyond Sunderland.
But a return to Wearside and being close to family and friends would suit Durham-born Hugill.
The centre-forward, 19, has started the season impressively for United's U21 team.
