In a new initiative aimed at strengthening the case management framework through integrated judicial data access in courts across India, the Supreme Court on Monday launched the “One Case, One Data” system.

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the system would, for the first time, enable seamless integration of case data from the Supreme Court, high courts, district courts and taluka courts.

“This initiative is to strengthen this court’s case management system through a multi-level integration with the database of high courts, district courts, and the government. First time it’s happening that the entire data will be now integrated and while sitting in Supreme Court, we’ll have all complete details up to the district court and taluka courts and, similarly, taluka courts will also have all the connectivity here,” the CJI said, announcing the initiative before taking up the day’s cases.

“This new module will automate data retrieval from the concerned courts’ database and facilitate swift online verification of case-related information. Reciprocal access of case information shall also be provided to high courts and government departments as and when required. This would ensure data integrity, enhance accuracy, and transparency,” Justice Kant said.

The initiative was intended to automate data retrieval and facilitate smooth verification of case information across different judicial forums, the CJI said, adding that reciprocal access to case information would also be provided to high courts.

The top court also launched “Su-Sahay”, an assistive chatbot developed by National Informatics Centre in collaboration with the Supreme Court Registry. The chatbot would assist various stakeholders in accessing case-related information and navigating court services more efficiently.
